Welcome! I’m an omnivorous pianist and curator based in San Francisco. I play everything from Bach to Ligeti, but I love nothing more than connecting audiences with historically overlooked and living composers.
In addition to my solo work, I’m a passionate chamber musician. I’m currently a member of Left Coast Chamber Ensemble, the San Francisco Contemporary Music Players, and Chordless Duo with soprano Sara LeMesh. For the past three years, I was the pianist of the Delphi Trio alongside violinist Liana Bérubé and cellist Tanya Tomkins.

“Allegra Chapman joined the quartet of string players who opened the concert at the piano, in an inspired performance of the startlingly original and involving score.”
- Phil Campbell, The Bay Area Reporter
“Stephen Montague’s Mirabella: a Tarantella for Toy Piano showed off Chapman and the toy piano’s virtuosic abilities.”
- Tyson Dauer, San Francisco Classical Voice
“…gorgeous, strong-limbed performances of Bacewicz’s String Quartet No. 1 and Piano Quintet No. 1 — as compelling a case as anyone could imagine for the importance of giving Bacewicz our undivided attention.”
- Joshua Kosman, San Francisco Chronicle
“…new-music lovers crammed into the concert space. Almost everyone…was apparently under 30. I can now die in peace knowing art music will continue to prosper.”
- Jeff Dun, San Francisco Classical Voice
“But the glorious main point of the evening was Eastman’s “Gay Guerrilla,” a 30-minute tour de force of technique and expressive intensity. In a fervid but impeccably controlled rendition by pianists Kate Campbell and Allegra Chapman, the composer’s ingenious bravado came to the fore.”
- Joshua Kosman, San Francisco Chronicle
“The level of musicianship all evening was extraordinary, and the playing of pianist Allegra Chapman was particularly astonishing.”
- Michael Strickland, Civic Center Blogspost

Two highlights of my fall were performing Gabriella Smith’s incredible ride of a piece, Imaginary Pancake, with the help of a *mysterious* assistant who jumped in for the harmonics and winning first place in the Federation of Art Songs’s 2023 competition in New York City with my co-conspirator/duo partner, soprano Sara LeMesh.
As many of you know, the past couple of years have been filled with health challenges for me. After battling Long Covid for almost a year and learning to live with an inner ear disorder, I am finally feeling like myself again this fall—full of energy, enthusiasm, and a better understanding of how to take care of myself and find balance (both literal and metaphorical).
